Collection: Venezia in the '50s
Inspired by the elegance and romanticism of a timeless city. A magical place where it’s still possible to breathe a unique enchantment that conveys a sense of grandeur and magnificence worthy of its history when the “Serenissima Republic of Venice” was a major financial and maritime power which lasted for more than a millennium from the middle age to the Renaissance. Thanks to its canals and its “Calle”, Venice is one of the most visited places in the world. Yet today the city is not only this but also a marvellous stage for design, art and culture. It is during the early ‘50s that Venice becomes the cradle of modern art, thanks also to Peggy Guggenheim’s eccentric and visionary character. In the same years, Venice rose to a pivotal place in the Cinema industry thanks to the International Film Festival, when the ‘50s marked the arrival at the festival of two of the greatest and most beloved Italian directors of the post-war period, Federico Fellini and Michelangelo Antonioni. Venice enchants the whole world with its charm, its art and its eccentric design that well bond with the ancient history arising from its elegant canals.
