Think about the fast development of the red light district and the decriminalisation of weed. Both happened during the ’80s showing the willingness of the Dutch people to face issues with an unconventional and open mindset. During this decade Amsterdam became the center for the youth culture and the alternative lifestyle with youngsters flocking the city. Throughout the breathtaking Baroque and Gothic building of the city, you could find any kind of strange and colourful figures like wacky street performers or a fellow who used to rollerblade through the city dressed in nothing but a thong.
